I thought I had a new idea!

This idea was kicked around on the Artemis list a couple of years ago.
And I have discussed it with other friends locally.

Do you mean solid or liquid slag ? I do not understsand you phrase
"taking it out to the surface". Why is it underground ? It would be
a lot easier to do it all on the surface.

I am not sure why you propose slag.

There is nothing special about slag. All we need is some working fluid
to remove the heat. This could be practically anything. In a closed
loop heat exchanger the ideal fluid would depend on the operaitonal
temperature. For lower temperautres ammonia and freon are commonly
used in spacecraft. For higher temperatures, liquid sodium and
sulphur are possibilities.

For an open loop heat exchanger, lunar dust would be fine. I have
envisaged a system which sprays the hot dust out the exhaust like a
fluid, and pours it in to the input from a dump truck or bucket train or
something similar.

Can you give us a complete reference ? i.e. date, publication, volume,
issue, pages. Or even a hyperlink if it is on the web.
