Launching Ramp

I am gratified I have started such a lively discussion. Just to keep things
focussed, I proposed a ramp of some kind as a cheap first stage. Perhaps
direct to orbit could be possible for micro payloads.

I favor the ramp (motice force open to debate) because it is something
private companies, clubs, universities, perhaps as a consortium, could
reasonably expect to fund and build.

Even if the price is comparable to a shuttle, it is a reusable structure that
will last for years and doesn't cost a lot to operate.

Personally, I think the cost can be very low. Comparable to pipeline
construction.

More imprtantly, it is rebuildable and repairable. Even if the initial design
shows flaws, they can be corrected failry easily.
