ok, can you give me your best guess as to dimensions that you have in mind
that would allow for a 20-ft cross section launch vehicla (I'm thinking
square-er rather than round) , the acceleration tube length for the vehicle
itself, the "plunger" length (assume it was the 3200 fugure) and general
vector orientation of forces (straight- up, angle,etc)

I may be able to sell investors on funding.

A couple of questions of course like how to keep kaunch vehicle from
bouncing around inside of tube, the 17000 speed in relatively dense
atmosphere etc.

Mixing technologies, i.e. hydrolics for initial boost and traditional
chemical explosions for follow through doesnt seem as elegant... although
your analogy of a carrier launch shows this very same marraige... (although
catapult is to compensate for not enough roll-out space for aircraft engines
to getup to "lift' speed fast enough.)
