Nuclear Waste on Moon - Troubling Thoughts

Although victoria presents a valid and highly interesting scenario, the
means of obtaining nuclear material planetside are many and varied. Numerous
states that are publicly known to support terrorism, some that are not
publicly known, and many with strong possibilities of supporting terrorism,
have access to both weapons grade material, waste for 'dirty' radiation
bombs, and actual nuclear devices. This unfortunate but very real scenario
is playing out in real time as this discourse continues. In short, as far as
terrorist activity is concerned, whether nuclear materials are safer on the
moon or in Yucca Mountian is a moot issue. Frankly, I am very surprised that
a nuclear terrorist incident hasn't happened already.

As far as safer storage from an environmental perspective, again, the
moon/Yucca issue is moot. The risks of launch accidents or terrorist
activity in transit are far greater than the guesses at how safe Yucca is.
Furthermore, these risks will remain far higher in the foreseeable future
for the former, and indefinitely in the latter. It is very easy for a
reasonable person to fairly conclude that robust, well designed and
researched storage facilities present a far safer method of disposal than
moonshots.

By-the-way, if Mr's Reid, Ensign, and Guinn are listening, I am a Nevadan,
and I fully support Yucca Mountain.
