This is a matter of preference to the individual residents of the various habitats. In some parts of the world dusk and dawn last for a very long time. In comparison, in other parts of the world night comes as the turning off of a lamp.
I can only speak of my personal preferences. I don't know how long I would prefer dusk and dawn to last, although I should certainly not like it to happen instantly, the shades being closed and opened in a second. Possibly dusk could be made to last longer than dawn. Say, a fifteen minutes dawn and half an hour or more of dusk. Also, the shades need not be closed entirely. Some small openings could be left, so that there would be a diffuse light, just enough to see by - if I want total darkness, there could be places outside the habitat proper.
Of course we could mimick seasons by not only varying the length of the day, but the length of dusk and dawn as well. "Summer" could be marked by long days and no actual night, just a few hours of dusk around "midnight".
