6.) Assemble space-vehicle with mining equipment for NEO expedition.
space cargo vessel to transport mining equipment on a slow orbit to
a designated NEO.
The crew will follow on a later ship and on a faster orbit.
This vessel is comprised of frame, tanks, engines, control
equipment, and shielded control room for the sensitive electronics.
Mated to the framework is the rudimentary mining equipment and
pressure vessels needed for the transport of liquid ammonia, liquid
methane and frozen water. I don't foresee this equipment as being
too complicated.
Do you think that this type of vessel can be built in orbit at this
early a stage in the bootstrapping process? This reason I put it at
this high a priority is because I'm taking into account the long
transit times and the fact that we'll need the water, ammonia and
methane a few years hence.
Should the empty pressure vessels be attached as the point of
departure or should the raw metal be sent and then have the tanks
assembled robotically on-site?
