Dear ssi list: Since the 70's days of the L5 Society, I have been convinced that education is key to space colonization: If you learned about space colonies when you were eight, you will be more likely to consider them seriously when you are a decision-maker of 40 or 50. To help such education, I now wrote a children's book "Secrets of Star Island: What's Hiding in a Space Colony". It features Glen, Sam and Jenna, born on Star Island, in a hunt for diamonds; meeting a retired space pirate and his giant zero-g chickens; chasing bad guys on a meteorite patrol and winning against the evil Dr. Gorz; and discovering the real gift of the good old Dr. Pottermore for the citizens of the galaxy...and in the process, learning about why space colonies are built, how they work and what is it like to live in them. I hope that your children/grandchildren will enjoy it, and maybe you could gift a copy to your local school library so more kids can learn about space colonies. The book is aimed for ages 8 - 12 and is sold at production costs through Amazon.com
