I'd like to give this some thought: if the space program was "right sized" and properly funded on a regular basis, what would be its annual budget? My own guess says 22 - 25 billion. I lack current figures on that level of funding, but I think it has been $15 billion, or even some insult like $11 billion. If my thought is that the space program needs a regular hike of $10 billion yearly, then your $75 number would support 7.5 years of a better space program. (To my lights, that means develop a next generation launch system, solar power satellites, and a LEO/GEO tug that would be needed in orbit.) Best, --John Kusumi
