I was just up in Seattle talking with LiftPort folks, a new
company dedicated to building a space elevator (and the
carbon-nanotube development needed). They are aiming primarily
for the Earth orbital applications, from the ground to GEO and
escape velocity to Mars, etc.
such companies, you should know that they currently have a public
stock offering aimed at small investors, but are planning to close
this offering on Friday, June 20.
At a later date, they will have a new offering with a substantial
minimum investment, not aimed at the general public. (The very
small investors are too much administrative effort for any company.)

I bought some stock. But, since I will be working with them on
some projects, I don't want to recommend for or against buying
the stock. This is just to let you know that the offer is
closing soon.
I will be starting some space-elevator projects & e-mail discussion.
