It will be washed out by rain, or so I should presume. Then it will be mixed with the upper layer of soil. It won't be broken down by UV light, for obvious reasons, but very small, organic particles should be eaten by microbes swiftly enough, if they aren't in too high a concentration. And I should presume that car traffic in an Island Three will be lesser than in comparably wealthy flatlander countries - at least if magtrains are built and extensively used. Similar with smoke from bonfires and barbecues.
