power making lots of money. However, assuming massive
SPS (10-100s of kms) are put in orbit around the earth
and the energy is beamed back to earth and the
colonies, will there be a point where supply is so
abundant that its price comes down to near nothing, if
not eventually free? It allturns most critically on how successful the 3rd World is in its efforts to develop through this century. If SPS led to a reduction in the cost of energy to 1/10th present values, the total potential revenue would remain the same if 10 times as many countries were using energy at the industrialized West's rates. There's certainly enough room for improvement in the world where that issue's concerned.
