Space Colonies or Mars ?

It's just a "funny" ... and it appears someone got it since there was a LOL
posted.

The question was how to keep public folks interested on a years long trek to
a planet or even to the stars... hey that may even be a neat futuristic
open ended name for it...Star Trek... Kinda rolls of the tongue and has an
almost familiar ring to it doncha' think?

And regarding why sitcom would be better in space than in a bar...well,
actually, the answer is the reverse....Why couldn't Space be a setting for
sitcom or Reality show instead of a bar? Remember the astronauts playing
golf on the moon and singing goofy songs while doing the kangaroo-ish
hop-walk? That was sitcom my friends. Reality of humans. Gotta make Space
more mainstream if you expect to have people pony up funds for it, and let's
be totally real here... it still is gonna take semi government monied groups
to fund Space adventures. Only a politician can sell a dream with dollars
attached...not a CEO. At least that's what *I* have seen historically.

The other option is to create a competative threat, like the Ruskies were
supposedly in the 60's. Dragon space people, Dragon Space, is the threat we
need to be whispering across the country. THAT will get things going again.
Nothing like friendly (sic) compitition to get the juices and monies flowing
again.

So pick your poison, sitcom's in space with Illiad and Odessy connotations
for long term attention (most of your successful sitcoms last as long as a
roundtrip mission) or get people scared of yellow, slanty-eyed people
peeping at them from moon based telescopes or cornering the market on
Martian real estate (of great strategic importance to the American way of
life).

Anything else is just Saturday Sci-Fi matinee fantasy or as satisfying as a
Saturday nite "solo-date".
