I will never support anything that increases nationalism. What made America powerful and full of cutting edge tech is the pioneering spirit. If we don't move upward and outward, then someone else will take advantage of the closest resources, will gain the technology and experience that exploration provides. Now that we have entered an age where we can expand into space, and it isn't already full of natives whos lives we would destroy, we aresad not to see that this alone will determine our future on a large scale. Not only in space but in all the sciences, exploration and discovery are the only sure way to increase the quality of life for all people. Also, has anyone in the military ever thought about china having a manned base on the moon, would that be the ultimate 'High ground"? If nationalism will cause some old powerful people to put more money into space, I feel desperate enough to say, "ok whatever it takes" sorry about the political post. Does any one know where to find information on the japanese anti-gravity stuff that someone mentioned in a previous post? Also, how come there is not more interest in liftport skyhook? wouldn't that change everything and open up a whole new era in space? And they seem to think that it is actually possible in the near future. If we invested more money into it could it be ready in 10 years? I have asked before and most people think they have a realistic chance of suceeding by the date they have on there website, which is in 15 years or so. Is there some alternitive path to orbit that is more certain to change the economics of launch, and which is more exciting and realistic?
