the silly "55 gallons of toxic waste" thing that's been going
around. There was such a study, based on very low-volume processes
for manufacture of gallium-arsenide solar cells; in actuality,
mass-manufactured silicon PV cells provide net environmental benefit
in their manufacture since they are making use of waste silicon
from semiconductor chip manufacturing.
