Actually, nuclear is roughly $4-8/Watt (but with a 80%+ duty cycle
these days, as opposed to 25% or less for terrestrial solar). Fossil
fuel plants are cheap, but the fuel itself won't be cheap
forever (at least if external costs are attributed through something
like a carbon tax). Remember this is capital cost, so $2.10/Watt
(or $2100/kW) turns into about 3 cents/kW-hr at a roughly 10%/yr
charge rate. The numbers aren't that far off - if they
are believable.
