New Report says plants love ...

The message I am responding to is far to complex to be effective. But one idea in it that I wish to respond to is that plants would be "fried" by the "ionizing" radiation from the Sun without protections such as they have on Earth from the atmosphere and Earth's magnetic field. This is basically not true.
And there are reports of Earth's magnetic field now being in a process of reversing, so we may learn much more about the field's effects on Earth in the next few years. But that is another issue.
Plants tolerate much more ionizing radiation than animals, and one would care much less about the effects on plants and animals being raised for food (which are to be killed after a few months or a year of life anyway) than humans, who mostly want to live "cancer free" for many decades. One would want to protect their agriculture "seeds" from such radiation as it would probably get (and accumulate) mutations from the radiation. The seeds for agriculture animals in the future will probably be cells for cloning. Space colonies in the intermediate future term would likely import the latest and most efficient food animal producing "seed cells" for cloning in the space colonies from Earth, but later would develop their own.
On another topic, should this group consider the proposals Bush will apparently soon make, which are separate as I see them, Colonizing the Moon, and Sending Humans to Mars?
