Here's an article on how they're investigating anti-matter as a
means of killing cancer cells.

This is the way that I think space developments will probably occur
in the future. Going to orbit has to have some bearing on the lives
of people here on Earth for it to be a worthwhile and sustainable
effort. Just going to the Moon or to Mars doesn't get most people
willing to shell out the bucks.

Developing technology to kill cancer will make that future anti-
matter drive come much closer to fruitition than trying to get a
research grant in order to develop anti-matter propulsion.
