Yes, the telephone industry is a good example of this. Not only does my
$120+ telecommunications bill from the local land carrier have a large
fixed cost for POTS that is minimally used (line is mostly for static
IPs on DSL), the taxes and addons makeup almost 30% of the bill. The
telephone companies hide behind the requlators and keep shifting
significant amounts that could be part of basic service over to the
requlators to add as taxes.
