Thread: US President's space plans
The followingmaterial is mostly from a University of North Florida historian, Dr. David Courtwright. He says on the captioned topic (meaning presidents after JFK);
Johnson; kept Apollo alive but his budget director forced major cuts which shut down the Saturn V program.
Nixon: backed a pared-downspace shuttle
Ford: did not domuch of anything...
Carter: kept the shuttle alive but trimmed the fleet from five to four
Reagan: went for theinternational space station.
Bush: dreamed of Mars.
Clinton: backed Goldin's better, faster, cheaper regime ... I guess that's advocacy of a sort, but actions speak louder than words, and NASA's budget stagnated under Clinton.
Bush II: ditto Bush I
