Mars A Waste Of Money

Hi-Read this on page A-18 of the January 22-Globe And
Mail newspaper:Should people go ? What might the first
Humans do on Mars ? Not much says Norman Sleep,a
Planetary Scientist and Geophysicist at Stanford
University,other than simply keep themselves alive
while trying to stay out of the way of robotic
scientific missions.He told the San Francisco
Chronicle that the need to send a Human to Mars is
about as pressing as the need to train a midget to
squeeze down into an oil well to see what is down
there,rather than sending instruments tethered to
data recorders on the surface....
And anyway,how is going to Mars going to help us to
build Space Colonies as described in Dr.Gerard
O'Neill's book "The High Frontier" ?? I also wonder
if even half the People on this Yahoo Group have
