that's based around the first Island 3 to be built, and the space
colonies that preceed it. I've been torn between doing as
VictoriaTangoman advises and ploughing through the 5000+ messages,
and coming out and asking questions relating to the stories I want
to tell. That way I can be sure I'm getting the information I need.
I share your pessimistic attitude to some extent, and the stories I
have in mind would be addressing the idea of not going to space, in
a thematic way though, not as an overt plot element. It wouldn't be
along the lines of 'Kings of the High Frontier', since the colonies
already exist, but the basic idea is that something happens that
puts humanity's presence in space in jeopardy, and the space
colonists have to deal with it.
I don't want to reveal too much about the stories at this point,
since they are not yet in a form suitable to be registered with any
copyright protection authorities. But I can tell you that it will
not be a 'traditional' science-fiction story, it's intended to be
more of a mixture of genres, i.e. Sci-fi, Horror, Drama.
I have a lot of questions I need to ask, to help build the story and
also to do with the cinematic presentation. I can't say that I'm a
hard science whizz, that area is probably the biggest one I'd need
help with. I hope that there are people here interested enough to
assist me(and I'll try not to take over your message group with my
queries ;) ).
