Different field, same frustrations

Law and medicine are excellent vehicles for drama. In the case of
law it shows conflict between two parties. For medicine, there is
life and death drama. Of course, having your boss threaten to kill
you unless the programming job is done by noon might be dramatic,
but week after week of watching a geek sitting at his desk coding
might get a bit boring except for the 1 minute boss-threatening
scene every week :)

The US imports *more than half* of its science graduate students
from abroad.

Never underestimate the ability of lawyers to create more work for
themselves. They make uop the bulk of the politicians so they can
always write more laws. They're very quick to launch class-action
suits even if the harmed people only manage to each get less than
*one dollar* in settlement the lawyer would still get fees of
millions.

Look at how they are extending the law now by suing fast food
companies for maing people fat. That's a new extension.

We know that lawyers are full of hot air so think of them like a gas
law. They will expand to fill any vacuum. More lawyers will simply
genrerate more lawsuits. You'll never have lawyers out of work like
so many factory workers. Never. Society will collapse before that
happens.
