prohibitive, and the collateral damage of batteries becomes a social
problem.
Storage batteries have limited life, need to be replaced every couple
of years.
I have yet to have a NiCd battery in my home last more than a matter
of months before it basically becomes useless (only holds charge for
about 10 - 20 minutes). My personal experience over 10+ years, and
many batteries.
Most gridless PV systems today use bulky lead-acid batteries, major
disposal problem. Can be recycled, at a cost.
