ISS to be cut back

A couple of corrections here:
- ISS is hardly a 'near-dead' carcass; neither...in my
view.....is the shuttle system. Doesn't mean it
shouldn't be a retirement schedule; but throwing words
that aren't correct like that around is not useful.
I've flown on both 737s and DC-9s out of our local
airport recently that are older than both the shuttle
system and ISS.
- to think that money that NASA as an Agency wasn't
spending would in any way, shape, or form be put to
other space uses is naive at best; counter-historical
also. For example: As Aviation Week and Space
Technology has recently reported, the recent
cancellation of the Comanche helicopter program for
the Army, which had led other Army aviation programs
to assume they would now get funded....has turned out
to be a real education for those other programs. They
ain't gettin' most of it. The same would go even more
so in a space case, where there aren't compelling
national operational needs...i.e, bad guys.....who
need defeating to force modernizing something in its
place.
