SSI Activity (and its rebirth?)

The bottom line is SSI has been hammering at the same approach for about
thirty years, producing some great science and conferences but still
no habitats to show for it, so does this prove progress and that the
problem is about to yield to more similar efforts or is it instead proof
the SSPS roadmap is not a good strategy? I think it only proves that we're still waiting for the space transportation system which the Shuttle was promised to be, but never was.
