Hi,
yes,the numerous Asteroids that pass close to the
Earth would be a good source of Platinum.Something
like a thousand Asteroids are identified every year,
for six or seven years now, passing close to our
planet. It's been roughly determined with spectro-
scopic instruments that about ten percent of them have
a high content of metals.Just one Asteroid could
contain trillions of dollars of metals.Maybe we could
persuade one into orbit around the Moon with a
determined team of specialists and a number of Ion
Engines. Then we could extract the ore at our leisure
to be used for many projects, constructing Solar
Power Satellites,colonizing the Moon,building Space
Colonies,going to Mars,etcetera.
Thank you for the
reference to "Mining the Sky"by John Lewis,I will
look for it.A related book you may enjoy is the
Permanent Book by Mark Prado also about mining the
mineral wealth of Asteroids and the Moon to construct
Habitats in Space at permanent.com.
Cordially,John Hadden(jfhadden@...
