While the seawater method seems feasible (and how many other important
metals are also available from seawater?), the granite method most certainly
is not. Given the concentrations of uranium within the host rock, and the
therefore enormous quantities of granite required, would necessarily result
in destruction of large land areas. Not something we should be thinking
about, I suppose, given the bad experiences we have seen with other strip
mining operations.

So I guess I should reframe my question: How much total energy is available
for fission plants given the current level of extraction methods?
