I don't see that happening within a reasonable time-frame in most of the
places I've lived; Washington D.C., Texas, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

The cities mentioned (and, really, all cities in the US) lack the dense
urban buildup that make anything besides a car practical. So, sure, it
might be possible to move away from 'a personal transportation system'
in some parts of the world, that's a non-starter idea here.

So, yah, you might hope for it to happen, but I don't see _how_.
