Yes, many of us older folks now have another reason to regret that
space colonies are not likely to be seen in our lifetime,
so "If you can't beat '-join 'em" -if you can afford to..
As a naive country boy, I'm not really sure how to go about it...

Now that the "Social Contract" has been broken... {see footnote}

[Yes, I realize that Rousseau's Social Contract is not a matter of law,
still I believe it expresses the philosophy upon which our society
(any society for that matter) and our Constitution was founded.]

In any case, now that the rich and powerful have been authorized to
prey legally upon the poor and weak, I was wondering...

Is the government now in the real estate business..?
i.e., In the past when a property was condemned it was the government
who assessed the property and provided the "just compensation".

I can't believe that I can now take over [for improvement of course] any
property that catches my eye in exchange for a mere "kickback",
surely I will have to reimburse the government in full for what they put
out in compensation...

-Or will I ?

-If not, ... -Wow, is this a great country or what !

-Also, will I have to comply personally with that "public benefit" thing
or can I
just sell and pass that on to the next owner..?

P.S. What measures would you suggest I take to prevent my own property
from being assessed as "blighted" in the event that my home is burnt to
the ground in righteous retribution..?
