It sounds like people have given their initial preferences, just as
they would in deciding what color to paint the bathroom. Without
sticking groups of people in an I-MAX theater and having them live
with a simulated view, I doubt any hard data is even obtainable.
Considering that some people live in deep valleys, where the field of
vision doesn't include "unviewable vistas", I doubt this is a problem.
I suspect the view is no more important that the view is, anywhere.
We can easily adapt to being inside, outside, or even underground.
Unless the view gives people a queezy feeling, like looking over the
lip of a cliff, or a feeling that the ceiling is going to collapse, I
wouldn't expect any psychological influence from the layout. After
all, big city folks can hardly even see the sky.

The strangest environment I've been in lately is San Francisco, where
the fog is really eerie to those not accustomed to it. If having
people living 'overhead' is too much of a problem, a little bit of
haze should take care of it.
