Rogue Stars and Planets As Agents In Solar System Formation!!!

Hello Gang,
I recently sent a posting in both the SETI public and Bioastro list concerning When Worlds Collide by Philip Wylie and Edwin Balmer. In the SETI public mail list Ron Blue pointed out that Rogue stars and planets may be agents in solar system formation. Quoting Ron:
"This process could be a way that star systems start up. Proto star
system with planets collide with another proto star system forming a
large enough star to maintain fusion. All of the planets would be
thrown all over the emerged system causing larger planets to form.
The heat from the new start up star may be strong enough to blow
away the gases around new planets forming from collisions. The
results could be alot of rocky interplanets. Some of the planet could
be thrown out of that new solar system and used as seeds to form
new proto star systems."
Neil F. Comins in his classic work "What If the Moon Didn't Exist" goes a step further. In chapter 7 "What if a Star Passed Near The Solar System"? In that chapter he raised the possibility of the planet Neptune being captured by the passing star and its outer atmosphere being blown off. Thus leaving a rocky remnant core. He goes on to envision carbon dioxide and water vapor being released from the remnant core which in time would form a planetary atmosphere
round the remnant, thus transforming this core into a terrestrial planet. In time planets formed in this way may give raise to life.
In short he views such chance encounters between stars as a secondary process in planetary/solar system formation. A form of planetary reincarnation. Jovian planets being reincarnated into
terrestrial planets. Thus there may be many different ways that planetary systems and planets may form.
