Actually, what I read of that article said it produced
a paired ion couplet, which is extremely tight and at
an appropriate temperature, ie, somewhere under the
4000 degrees kelvin they were working with, would very
probably remain a metal, down to hard vacuum
pressures. Since, as the article pointed out, regular
metals don't have that double ionic bond but remain
stable at terrestrial temp/pressures, I predict
metallic H2 will also survive here. Now, if we could
just find a nice Metallic H2 mine somewhere,,,( riches
beyond averice)
