First, I've been watching the e-mails with great interest, though haven't
managed to be as active as I'd have liked due to pressure of other work
lately. I am very please that there are so many qualified psychologists in
this group, who obviously know far more about the subject than I do. I
particularly appreciated one comment to the effect that the idea that
dichotomy could lead to bloodshed was "ridiculous". I guess I must have
imagined both the World Trade Centre and the bombs on Afghanistan.

We are being *so* skeptical probably because we *aren't* psychologists. When
someone is presented to an idea from a field of knowledge that she does not
know, then she can believe it only if it appeals to the common sense,
otherwise the idea will sound as nonsense. I think that Quantum Mechanics
and General Relativity sounded nonsensical to everyone here when we first
heard about it, for instance. However, since we (or most of us) are
scientific minds, we started to believe in QM and GR when we saw the vast
amount of experimental data supporting both theories - even though we (or
most of us) are not physicists. However, so far we have not seen any
empirical evidence favoring your affirmation, and so we remain skeptical
about it - saying that living in an environment surrounded by curved
surfaces will lead to bloodshed *sounds* nonsensical. If you present
experiments confirming that, however, we will believe you - even though we
are not psychologists...
