questioned regarding pulse detonation engines.
Just a concept model, if we have a true detonation, not a deflagration
to detonation, but a true pulse detonation engine with a tube size of
1 foot in diameter and a length of 20 feet, what would the following
attributes be?
Could Hydrogen be used as the fuel source?
How much thrust would this engine produce?
What would the fuel consumption rate be?
Could compressed air stored on onboard oxygen tanks be used for the
air supply in the engine?
If oxygen from onboard storage tanks can be used for the oxygen supply
in the engine, could the engine operate in a vacuum?

For any of you propulsion experts and PHDs out there I have a few
questioned regarding the Variable Specific Impulse Magneto-plasma
Rocket engines, and I wonder if any of you can answer them.
Just a concept model, if we have a true VASIMR engine that is 10 feet
in diameter and a length of 40 feet, what would the following
attributes be?
How much thrust would this engine produce?
What would the fuel consumption rate be at full power?
If a pair were to be used on a spacecraft weighing 2 million pounds
(on earth), estimated how long would it take the craft to reach Mars,
under power?
What would be the minimum altitude this engine could be activated
safely without risk of environmental impact or engine damage? Could it
be used at say 80,000 feet or would the minimum altitude have to be
higher?
Could smaller versions of the engine, say no larger than 1 foot in
diameter and 5 feet long, be effectively used as maneuvering thrusters
under computer control?
