Strenghth of thin plastic sheets for bulkheads in space colonies

Okay, my bad, I mispoke
(miswrote). A few mils of
plastic sheeting apparently
won't cut it. I didn't do
any calculations. Thanks to
those who did. I guess we'll
have to go with Plexiglas or
something. Where is
Scotty's "transparent aluminum"
when you need it?

The point I was trying to
make is that the main
concourse of the torus should
have some regularly spaced
bulkheads and that the
bulkheads should be
transparent, so as to not
block the view. By the way,
I don't do windows! ;-)

To reopen another can of
worms, the Stanford study
assumed a air pressure of 1/2
atmosphere. That will reduce
the strength requirements.
