Solar Power Satellites

I recently submitted incorporation papers for The Dirigo Energy Institute, or DEI, (see the Birth Announcement below) and I want to announce this event on all forums available to me. Point one under Purposes in the DEI Articles of Incorporation reads as follows: Space solar power solar power satellite construction in low earth or moon orbit; movement for normal operation to geostationary earth orbit; transfer of the energy collected to receiving stations on Earth; transmission to customers either over the high voltage grid or transformation to hydrogen gas with subsequent distribution through pipelines, hydrogen gas pressurized in tanks, or via liquid hydrogen in trucks, railroad cars, barges, or tankers; use of asteroids and/or the moon as a source of raw materials for construction, and methods for satellite maintenance. This is the tie that might make DEI of interest to some in this group. FYI, DEI'sinitialconcentration will be on building a sustainable village and hydrogen generation facility in Cutler, Maine with power provided by windmill and solar cellnetworks built on the site. A pilot program has beenintroduced on the lowearthorbitnowweb sitethat adaptsselected Maine vehicles for hydrogen power to be provided with trucks transferring high pressure hydrogen tanksbetween Cutler and the consumers with a hydrogen pipe lineservingas a possiblealternate transmission method.A successful program could be expandedin Maine,then to New England, and then to the United States. The world wouldbe invited to watch this process with a standinginvitation tojump in at any time andcopy what is being done in the U.S. Afollow-up source of power to support this system would be a one gigawatt farm of wind-wave converters, or equivalent, placedbeyond the three mile limit with power sent to conditioning equipment set up at a selectedMainesite. From this point it could be used to generate hydrogen for the above system or transformed into high voltage electricity for the grid. Another option for regenerative power that will be investigated is toadaptthe Cutler windmill and solar cell networksto alsoserve as a receiving antenna (rectenna) for a demonstration solar power satellite set up at 70 Degrees West Longitude over Columbia . In anticipation of this possibility,a microwave power transfer testbetween Mount Katahdin and Cutler will be sought. Theimmediate task at hand is to build momentum to support this plan. (better known as D-E-I) will soon be released into the world. DEI's vital signs are State of Maine Charter Number (later) with IRS applications for Employee Identification Number and 501(c)(3) tax deductible status under preparation. DEI was incorporated to promote environmentally benign and cost effective energy. Its mission is to publicize a global goal for one hundred terawatts to be available by 2050, which energy would be shared among all nations on an open and equitable basis. Arriving at such an end point will delete anthropogenic carbon dioxide as a factor in the global warming equation and remove energy as a consideration in world peace deliberations. Four methods DEI will develop consistent with this objective are sustainable villages designed to minimize the carbon dioxide footprint of up to 1,000 villagers, a hydrogen distribution system, farms of ocean wind-wave converters, and solar power satellites in geostationary orbit. A hydrogen distribution system will consist of a complex to create hydrogen gas and transmit it to customers in high pressure hydrogen gas tanks, through pipelines, and/or liquefied and distributed via truck, railroad, barge, or tanker. A prototype farm of ocean wind-wave converters and a demonstration solar power satellite placed in a geostationary orbit will demonstrate the potential in these regenerative energy options. The satellite will send its power to receiving antennas (or rectennas) with networks of windmills and solar cells enmeshed within and/or encircling the rectennas to also generate power. The outputs from the ocean farm and rectennas will be transformed to high voltage electricity for the grid and/or used to generate hydrogen. DEI is more fully described at www.lowearthorbitnow.org.
