So this is one reason why the Pentagon is interested in Solar Power
Satellites.

Because of insurgency activity the cost of delivering gasoline (petrol)
into Baghdad for the military is now over $100 per US gallon.
The power grid is broken and the oil fields are non-functioning, all
because of insurgent activity.
If only they could beam in the power via an SPS, it might be cheaper
than the status quo.....
