to GEO Solar Satellite systems by using MEO. Perhaps
even LEO could be used.
Even the author of the MEO pointed out this will
probably not happen in his (or our) lifetime. I simply
put numbers to that muse and came up with a realistic
view of any major obsticles that can be overcome since
the solar technology barrier but not the transport or
economic.
With all due respect...the cost differential between
LEO and GEO is factor of around 90 times LEO. THe cost
for LEO in dollars per pound range from $7k (SpaceX)
to $33k (Space Shuttle) in 2007 dollars. MEO can be
obtained around 10-20x LEO. You do the math.
I guess it all depends on whether you think like a
consumer or run a business. Probably doesn't matter
since we are all registered voters wehn the government
launches a MEO system; even so, as a taxpayer, we all
want to know where the money goes (and who gets the
money)...
Your mileage may vary.
