Possible invention disclosu- Minimal Solar power Satellite syste

Hello Charles,

Thank you for your contribution to the Solar Power
Satellites in space effort. I'm not sure that it is
patentable, but if it was, your contribution makes it
no longer so.

I don't quite understand two points:
first: How is it that you don't have to steer the
transmitting antenna?
Second: What do you do with the microwave energy from
the other 3 SPSs that are far away?

I have proposed a solution to this problem to this
user group a month or so ago myself. That was to
place the SPS in a 24 hour elliptical orbit, with
perigee just above the receiving rectenna (at 1 or 2
PM local time, then quite far out at 1 or 2 AM local
time). The microwave beam would need both moderate
steering and some degree of focus adjustment to run at
minimal losses. This is just another way to do it.

As for the expense of getting to GEO rather the LEO
(or MEO), the SPSs could be built in LEO, even near
the ISS then moved to GEO using high specific impulse,
electric propulsion, over a few months. I think this
idea was also patented by the Solar Power Satellite
Corporation, however their website seams to be gone.
