Actually we do have to steer the antenna, I was being too
optimistic. The rectenna will slowly move across the field of view
of the satellite. Also, about every 90 to 100 minutes it will be
necessary to repoint the antenna to point to a different rectenna.

Each of four SPS'es will be supplying a different rectenna at any
particular instant in time. If there are at least four
geographically dispersed rectennae around the Earth, then it will be
possible for every SPS satellite to be continuously supplying a
rectenna.

I am not sure I understand the comment about "far away". The orbits
are circular, so the distance from the satellite to Earth will not
vary.

The distance to each rectenna will vary while it is in the satellite
field of view.
