Welcome! I hope to see your contributions to this list, and perhaps also
to the related list "ssi_list".
core space-related topics. Please be patient with us. There are a lot
of quality contributions to this list and ssi_list nonetheless.
I don't know the capabilities of either Kajima Corporation or Shimuzu
Corporation as regards space activities. But the natural thing for me to
ask is, "Have you thought about teaming with some group in Russia?".
Clearly, the Russians have a lot of experience with launchers and with
construction in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), and they are eager for new business
opportunities in the wake of significant reductions in their former
budgets.

Subject: [spacesettlers] a space hotel concept
Dear Group Members,
Let me introduce myself first.
I am working in Japan as a space architect in Kajima Corporation,
currently joining a research project in Shimizu Corporation which is
well-known with its first Japanese space hotel project. The Shimizu group
is planing to start a new hotel concept in which the realization with
current materials is expected as high-priority. I was asked to join that
group.
As I try to follow the interesting discussions on Space settlers group, I
would also like to ask you about your image designing a realiable space
hotel in which the construction can start in 10 years. In this case, we
would rather go with the idea preparing pre-fabricated 14.7mx8.4m modules
and fix them together in the orbit usuing connection nodes. Partly,
re-using external empty hyrogen tanks (size: 29.4mx 8.4m, double of the
size before) will be also considered. The whole sructure will be 200m in
diameter, won't rotate at the beginning, but will be ready to create 1G by
3rpm anytime the technology is built.
I am looking forward for your ideas.
best wishes from Japan
