Lunar Elevator can be built today using commercial Zylon fiber.

A major advantage of the elevator versus mass driver, is that the elevator is bi-directional, and low acceleration.

You can soft land heavy equipment on to the Moon with a space elevator, which you cannot do with a mass driver. Soft landing on the Moon with rockets is darned expensive.

Also you can take off from the Moon with low acceleration which means that humans and delicate cargo can be transported.

A mass driver involves thousands of gees, which would kill a human instantly.
