This still seems pretty far in the future if you ask me. When I start
seeing real evidence that high-quality carbon nanotubes (aka, unobtanium)
can be manufactured in large quantities suitable for this purpose and
others, then my skepticism will wane.

By the way, if such high-quality, large-quantity carbon nanotubes were
available, then that would also benefit more traditional Earth-to-orbit
approaches. For example, very light and strong high-pressure propellant
tanks could be made, perhaps negating the need for turbopumps in rockets.

Part I looks excellent.

However, haven't been able to access part II. Every time I try to
read it with the acrobat reader I get 'could not find Color space cs6'.

I'm using acroread version 3 running under windows 98.
