I don't know about that; NASA has been a big jobs program for decades,
and I don't think it has done us much good.

I agree that a true Apollo-scale effort would be good in the short term,
but as we've already seen, it's not sustainable. Much better to open
the frontier to commercial development. The government certainly has a
role to play in that, but building and flying launchers is probably not
an appropriate role for it anymore.
