Obama Calls for End to NASA’s Moon Program

Here we go again! It is the same old politics as usual. Prevent all possibility for success of the prior partys programs by cancelling them no matter the cost or degree of success. Moreover, this proposal would also present the GWB haters with another failure to gloat over. No matter that a maturing program is cancelled at the cost of more than $11 billion, if it makes them look bad and us look good. We are only asking for half the funding that they requested. But that $9 billion is already spent money and this is new spending and not really much less. By my calculation, $^ billion for a new program and $2.5 billion to kill the current one adds up to $8.5 billion a meager $500 million difference. President OBama shows no discomfort in spending taxpayer dollars so far. Why would he be worried about spending more? And he probably will. The left and Democrats have a very poor record of spending estimates not to mention restraint. Another major benefit of this risky proposal is that several manned space disasters over a few short years would likely end the U.S. space program completely both manned and unmanned as an expensive boondoggle. The left and most Democrats have been trying to kill NASA almost since its inception. Contrary to the popular opinion and many histories of the time, JFK was not universally loved and supported by all Democrats. I know that for a fact. I lived through that time. The 1960 election was when my first interest in and study of politics began. Many still believe the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo program to be a foolish waste of money. A final benefit to the left would be the loss of American prestige - a major priority of their agenda - and a slow down in new technology development here to allow the rest of the world to catch up and surpass us. Our manufacturing base has already been gutted. Our technology exports are being stolen with their complicity. Our patent system favors foreign applicants over domestic inventors, while protecting them and hindering or simply not protecting us. Our intellectual property is stolen by other countries with near impunity, while American citizens are prosecuted for the smallest violations of copyright laws. They need to punish us for Kyoto and all our other perceived arrogances of power. How many hard working Americans have to lose their jobs to satisfy their need to sacrifice to the gods of the Global Village, One world Order, and globalism? They seek to bring everyone down to the lowest possible level to make growth slow, controlled, and more environmentally friendly, while guarantying mass starvations to reduce or eliminate humans from the Earth to suit their twisted ideology that puts plants and animals at a higher status than greedy, depraved, and wicked human beings. Long live PETA NOT! (FYI. PETA means People Eating Tasty Animals to me, but, sadly, they just rescue them from the torture of testing labs, kill them, and throw them into dumpsters. When I was taught to hunt as a young boy, I was told it was a sacred right and necessity for our survival given to us by God. Killing an animal without trying to eat it for sustenance was taught to me to be the same as murder equivalent to the sixth commandment from God that thou shall not kill (murder). Animal sacrifice to God was initiated by God after Adam and Eves seduction by the serpent. God also ended that practice and the practice of sacrificing not only animals, but also goods like grain and wine, to HIM by sacrificing HIS ONLY SON to save the greedy, depraved, and wicked human beings of the world. He gave us dominion and stewardship over the lower forms of life, not the other way around)! This latter paragraph is not intended as a sermon, but as a summary of the respect man gained for nature and our place in it over thousands of years of living with and in nature. By living in sterile cities and not communing with nature has destroyed this perspective. The same sacred respect is found in many cultures around the world whether they believe in God, gods, or not. Our ancestors brought it with them and found it was already here among the tribes of native inhabitants who, interestingly, did believe in God by the name they knew HIM THE GREAT SPIRIT and FATHER OF ALL! It is a human imperative to explore, experiment, try new things, treat nature with respect, and not waste precious resources; or we will surely die! LARRY A BEYER
