serious error (re. radiation shielding) in 1975 Summer Study?

I'm not sure that shielding against charged particles is "easy"... not
with the kinds of energies we're talking about with cosmic rays, anyway.
A planet-sized magnetic field can do it, obviously, but a small one?
I dunno, we'd have to run the numbers.

As for nuclear plants, I'd like to do this comparison, but I'm having a
hard time finding any actual numbers on the energies and fluxes of
particles generated in a fission plant. The interwebs are full of fluff
pieces (either reassuring or scare-mongering) without any real data.

Based on what I've found so far, I would have to guess that nuclear
power plants don't generate anywhere near the amount (number and energy)
of high-energy particles that are found in cosmic rays outside the
magnetic shield. But if you can find some source of actual numbers,
please do share!
