I would not say that "The Stars My Destination" has a space settlement
setting, at least not in the O'Neilian sense. The asteroid dwellers live in
microgravity, never bothering to build rotating habitats. (BTW, Alfred
Bester wrote that book before space travel, when people had no idea about
the deleterious effects of microgravity.) Besides, it seems that there is
only one colonized asteroid, and that its colonization was accidental - not
a broad colonization program as envisioned by O'Neil.
