OK, all of my SF short stories are now up on Smashwords. This includes all of the High Frontier/space industrialization stories, as well as some not available
on the NSS archive of my Space Settlement site.

Thank you for the very kind words. What you describe above was exactly my motivation for writing these stories in the first place. So comments like this are very meaningful for me.
Loading my latest story to Smashwords was a very enjoyable process. Its making me plan to go back to all of my older stories and loading
them as well. Most of them are still available on the NSS archive of my old Space Settlement website (https://space.nss.org/settlement/MikeCombs/),
but some are not. Might as well do them all.

Well, I think it can go either way. Competition can drive people
to be better than the other team, but it can also encourage cutting
corners just to be first, where a better long term goal could have
been achieved in a slow and steady manner. (Or maybe a kind of cooperative
competition like with Elon's teams - they cooperatively decided on
a goal then competitively work toward it.)

Obviously, I don't know what would have actually happened with a joint
moon mission, but "have you been back?" could not even be asked,
because we never left! For all the ISS' faults, it has been
continually operated and the redundancy brought on by cooperation
is one reason why.

Though I share your wish that it would fly higher!
