A day in Space, Lets get a tank now

Well, I'm 45 now. And I think I could learn a few techniques
neccesary to get along for awhile in Zero-G. New ways to relieve
myself, eat, etc. But I would prefer a shorter visit to a longer
one, especially for the first time. Maybe a day, or even less (I
really don't know how my body would react to the rigors of space,
but, hey, if John Glenn can do it at age 78, so can I at 45). But
perhaps the fees could be less for shorter visits too:-) The
seasoned tourists that demand longer stays would pay more, of course.

One thing that seems hightly possible in the near term is to
make use of a spent shuttle propellant tank. If we could get enough
business support to pay NASA (a big if), then maybe they could try
and tow or boost the main tank from a shuttle to an orbit
parallelling the ISS. After that, it is a matter of attaching an
airlock to the thing (wouldn't necc have to be docked to the ISS),
cleaning it up a bit, and viola! the first LEO hotel. I envision a
day when we could string many of these together to make lodging
facilities, recreation, and even the first space farms. They are
already almost all of the way out of the gravity well, may as well
find a way to tow or boost them the rest of the way and make use of
them. Again, it just takes money, and someone to do it first.

BTW, where are our big aerospace companies right now? Hell, some of
these guys already build the Shuttle, Delta, Titan, etc. why
couldn't some of them team up and do a side project, like say, the
first fresh produce/hydroponics farm in LEO, open for business to
hungry astronauts, cosmonauts, taikonauts, and tourists??? Are they
limited by legal tangles due to gov't contracts? If anyone can build
an LEO hotel, it sure as heck would be Boing or Lockmart!
