Transportation within Habitat

This is another possibility. We may even be able to use it for a subway system
(although I'd personally prefer electric trains on it).

We would need some way to get to the centre of the habitat. Something more
like a lift in a modern office building but much higher would be what we need.
(Note to yanks: Life is the correct word for what you call elevator).
